Russell Brown founded Northwood's in 1985 in the quaint West Annapolis neighborhood. Located in a renovated house, Northwoods offers fine Continental cuisine in a romantic atmosphere serving dinner six nights a week.

We offer full bar service and an extensive award winning wine list. Dine al fresco on our terrace in the warmer months. Northwoods has become known for its complete dinner special that allows guests to select an appetizer or soup, salad, any entrée and dessert for one price, A True Value !

The menu at Northwoods is Continental with an emphasis on Italian, Mediterranean and American eclectic. We offer daily specials in addition to the menu from the freshest market ingredients prepared by our talented staff of chefs. Russell is the executive chef, trained at the Culinary Institute of America, who brings a philosophy to the kitchen of quality food and impressive presentations. The menu includes a broad selection of appetizers and entrees to please everyone’s palate. Try our Crabmeat Portofino, Escargots Bugatti, Zuppa de Pesce Angelico and Beef Wellington to name a few. Some desserts are made in house and are supplemented by local pastry shops.

The wine list at Northwoods encompasses the world with a selection of over 125 wines primarily from California with highlights from France, Italy, Australia, Germany, New Zealand and South Africa offering a broad selection of varietals. We offer eight to ten wines by the glass and have an extensive list of half bottles. Northwoods has been honored by the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for many years.

Our professional service staff, who ensures that guests are attended to from the moment they arrive until they finish that last cup of coffee, complements Northwoods food and wine. Our professional staff ensures that guests are treated with personal and attentive service that Northwoods has become known for, giving you the feeling that you are dining in our own home. The yellow hued dining room is graced with impressionist artwork and cloth-laden tables are adorned with fresh flowers and candlelight.

Romantic Outdoor PatioNorthwoods has received many accolades over the years including the Zagats Guide, Mobil Guide and AAA and have been awarded the DiRoNA award since 1992. We are especially proud of the latter, sponsored by Distinguished Restaurants of North America, which by anonymous inspections has selected over 800 restaurants in the United States, Canada and Mexico that passed a stringent inspection program to be included in the non profit organization that promotes fine dining. We have been featured in many local newspapers and magazines including the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Magazine and the Evening Capital to name a few. Northwoods has become known as the local’s restaurant to go for special occasions and a fine dining experience.
